What's the best time to camp at Grand Canyon?
South Rim is open year-round — October-April is mild and uncrowded; May-September is hot and crowded but the standard visit. North Rim is open mid-May to mid-October only (snow-dependent) and is the cooler, less-crowded alternative.
Can I camp in slot canyons?
Most slot canyons (Antelope, Buckskin, Wire Pass) prohibit overnight camping due to flash-flood risk. Some longer Paria Canyon multi-day routes allow camping at designated high-ground sites — permit-controlled via BLM Kanab Field Office.
