The state's signature
The monarch funnel through Hill Country
Every eastern monarch on the continent converges into one Texas funnel each October — the flyway's narrowest point before Mexico. The front's position is mapped weekly; some years it crosses the Hill Country in a single famous week.
Seasonal RV-timing verdict
When Texas is at its best
Texas's prime RV window is March to May and September to November. Hill country and gulf coast are comfortable; summers are extremely hot and winters vary by region. Shoulder-season play: February and December can work in south Texas but northern areas see frost and some parks have limited winter services.
Know before you go
Hurricane season affects the coast June-November. Summer heat regularly exceeds 100°F with high humidity.
