The Formula 1 United States Grand Prix returns to Circuit of the Americas in Del Valle, just southeast of Austin, with the race weekend running Friday October 23 through Sunday October 25, 2026 — practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday, and the Grand Prix on Sunday. For RV travelers this is the marquee F1 camping experience in the US: COTA's official RV camping window runs Thursday October 22 through Monday October 26, and the through-traffic on FM 812, COTA Boulevard, and SH-130 turns a 20-minute drive into an hour-plus crawl on race day. The single most convenient option is COTA RV Park, the only year-round campground located inside the racetrack itself — full hookups and a literal walk to the gate, no rideshare, no traffic. Off-site, McKinney Falls State Park sits roughly 7 miles out (about 15-20 minutes off-peak) with 81 water-and-electric sites in a genuinely wooded setting, while Oak Forest RV Resort and Wisteria RV Park offer full hookups minutes from the circuit. Late-October Austin weather is usually mild — highs in the 70s-80s with cool 50s-60s nights — but October is one of the city's rainier months, so plan for the possibility of a wet race. Motorsport bags must stay within 12x12x20 inches; coolers, luggage and oversized bags are prohibited and confiscated items are not returned. Germania Amphitheater requires clear bags unless smaller than 4.5x6.5 inches. Leave restricted gear in the rig.

Plan for heavy congestion on COTA Boulevard, McAngus Road, FM 812 and SH-130 — police redirect vehicles and lots overflow. A 20-minute drive can exceed an hour on race day, and McAngus Road and COTA Boulevard see restricted access all weekend.
