Massacre Rim is one of the largest Dark Sky Sanctuaries in the world — the certification tier reserved for the darkest, remotest land the program recognizes. On a moonless peak night, this is as dark as the lower 48 gets.

When Nevada is at its best
Nevada's prime RV window is March to May and September to November. Desert heat is manageable in shoulder months; summers are extreme while winters can be cold at elevation. Shoulder-season play: Late February and early December work in higher elevations but nights are cold and some remote roads may have snow.
