Salmon-Challis NF — Frank Church River of No Return

The Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness is the largest contiguous wilderness in the Lower 48 at 2.37 million acres, and rig access is by definition perimeter-only — the wilderness interior has no roads, period. Corn Creek (Main Salmon put-in), Boundary Creek (Middle Fork put-in), and Indianola are the perimeter developed loops, all capped at 28 ft, all dry-camp, no on-site dump (closest dump is in the town of Salmon). Float-trip permit demand for the Middle Fork (won by lottery, very rare draw) drives summer rig traffic to Boundary Creek. Dispersed camping is broadly allowed under the Salmon-Challis MVUM along the gravel Forest Service roads outside the wilderness boundary; FSR 30 along the Main Salmon is the most-used corridor. Grizzly bear protocol enforced, mountain lion sightings routine, and cell coverage non-existent for most of the perimeter.
