Renting an RV in Laramie: what to know before pickup
Laramie has its own arrival logistics. Vedauwoo Recreation Area handles both the first night and the free dump station. One street-parking ordinance applies to RVs here — cited in full in the arrival guide.
Street parking reality
A visitor in a rented RV can never satisfy "owned and occupied" — on-street parking in Laramie is effectively closed to you regardless of duration, and staying with a local host still caps the street at one rig.

Dump stations & water
- Vedauwoo Recreation Area — free, potable water

Skip the classic mistake
Driving Snowy Range Scenic Byway (WY-130) outside summer window
Best window: Mid-May through September — Wyoming high plains green season with low humidity.
The Laramie window to avoid
November through April — sub-zero events and Snowy Range Scenic Byway closures.
What that mistake costs
WY-130 closed October through May annually per WY DOT
Day one, after you pick the rig up
- Top off propane at U-Haul of Laramie, 2160 Snowy Range Rd, Laramie, WY 82070, on arrival day if tanks read below 30%.
- Drive direct to Vedauwoo Recreation Area — Laramie Code Title 10 restricts overnight on-street parking in residential zones.
- Verify scenic-drive open status on Snowy Range Scenic Byway (WY-130) (some seasonal closures).
