About these eventsEach one in its own record's words.
Kerrville Folk Festival 2027. The Kerrville Folk Festival is the longest continuously running music festival in the United States: eighteen days and nights of more than a hundred performing songwriters on Quiet Valley Ranch outside Kerrville, where the real magic is the after-hours campfire song circles that run till dawn (the 2026 edition was the 54th annual, May 21-June 7). 2027 is not yet officially dated — plan the 18-day run beginning the Thursday before Memorial Day, roughly May 27-June 13, 2027. Camping on the ranch is the tradition, but Kerrville-Schreiner Park, the city's own RV campground on the Guadalupe, is minutes away when you want hookups and a shower with walls.
Terlingua International Chili Championship 2026. Every first week of November, the ghost-town country between Big Bend National Park and the Rio Grande fills with rigs for the Terlingua International Chili Championship — the 59th edition runs November 3-7, 2026 at Rancho CASI de los Chisos, the Chili Appreciation Society International's own ranch off FM 170. This is the rare festival where the RV is not logistics but the point: the ranch is a primitive desert campout — no hookups, no water, no shade beyond what you bring — and thousands of cooks and campers build a temporary town of rigs, flags and cook stoves under some of the darkest night skies in Texas. Tuesday through Friday layer in bean, salsa and wings contests plus live music before Saturday's championship judging. Come fully provisioned: Study Butte has limited fuel and groceries, and the nearest real resupply is Alpine, 80 miles north. Terlingua's famous quirk — two rival chili cookoffs run the same week on opposite sides of town, a schism dating to the original 1967 shootout — is half the fun of asking locals for directions. Tack on Big Bend: Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive is 40 minutes from your campsite.
Wurstfest 2026. Wurstfest is New Braunfels' ten-day salute to the German heritage of the Texas Hill Country — sausage, biergartens, polka bands and lederhosen along the Comal River, November 6-15, 2026. Founded in 1961, it's one of the Southwest's great heritage festivals and lands in the mild first-half-of-November window that makes Hill Country RV travel ideal. Guadalupe River State Park is about 30 minutes northwest for a river-canyon campground, and the New Braunfels area itself is thick with riverside RV parks built for the summer tubing crowd — plenty of hookup capacity once the season cools.
SXSW Austin 2027. South by Southwest Conference + Festivals takes over downtown Austin annually. McKinney Falls State Park (Texas Parks & Wildlife) + Pecan Grove RV Park are the closest RV options.
Texas Bluebonnet Season 2027. From roughly late March through April, bluebonnets carpet the Texas Hill Country — the state's defining spring spectacle, strongest in the triangle around Burnet (the officially designated Bluebonnet Capital of Texas), Llano, and Fredericksburg. Intensity varies with fall and winter rains, so treat any single year's density honestly: good rain years produce highway shoulders that look painted; dry years still bloom, just thinner. The classic drives are the Willow City Loop north of Fredericksburg — a narrow ranch road that becomes one of the state's most photographed routes in bloom — and the roads ringing Lake Buchanan. Muleshoe Bend Recreation Area on the Colorado River is famous for solid fields of blue in strong years and takes reservations for its primitive campsites; Inks Lake State Park near Burnet is the established full-facility RV base in the heart of the zone. Spring is peak Texas camping and state parks book on 30-day-plus horizons — reserve pads early, rigs 8 weeks out. Burnet's Bluebonnet Festival runs annually in April.
Poteet Strawberry Festival 2027. Poteet, the self-declared Strawberry Capital of Texas, throws one of the state's biggest agricultural festivals just south of San Antonio: PRCA rodeo, national country-music headliners, a carnival, a parade and strawberries in every form (the 2026 edition was the 79th annual, April 10-12). 2027 is not yet officially dated — plan the second-weekend-of-April pattern, roughly April 9-11, 2027 (the 80th annual). The festival grounds sell on-site camping, which is the low-friction RV play; for a hookup base with more room, San Antonio's south-side RV parks are a straight shot up TX-16, close enough to fold in the Alamo City.
Austin City Limits Music Festival 2027. Austin City Limits Music Festival 2027. McKinney Falls State Park (TX Parks & Wildlife) + Pecan Grove RV Park give downtown-adjacent RV stays.
Terlingua International Chili Championship 2027. The Chili Appreciation Society International runs its championship by a calendar anyone can work out: finals on the first Saturday of November, with the celebration opening the Tuesday before. That puts 2027 at Tuesday, November 2 through Saturday, November 6, at Rancho CASI de los Chisos, which CASI locates on the north side of Highway 170 about eleven miles west of Study Butte and seven miles east of Lajitas. CASI hosted the first Terlingua championship in 1967 and still runs the tradition; the week builds from side contests and nightly bands to Saturday's final, which only qualified cooks may enter. CASI's cookoff information page lists a local service for portable toilet rental and RV cleanout, a set of ranch safety rules to read before arrival, and Terlingua-area lodging for anyone who comes without a rig. Big Bend National Park is the neighbor; its Rio Grande Village campground keeps full-hookup sites for a longer stay after the cookoff.

What this page covers
If you are planning a coastal RV beach trip in this state, this page covers the realistic RV-park coastal anchors (state parks + private parks with ocean-view sites), the salt-air rig-care basics, the tide windows for beach-driving zones (where legal), the hurricane-season disclosure for Atlantic + Gulf states, and the Pacific-coast storm-window distinctions.
Texas's coastal RV-park anchors operate primarily Memorial Day through Labor Day. Salt-air rig care + tide windows + hurricane-season disclosure (where applicable) are covered. Holiday weekends book first on the coast, so settle the campground before the rig.
The window. Memorial Day through Labor Day for most US coasts. Atlantic + Gulf hurricane season is June 1 - November 30; Pacific storm-watching window is November - February.
What guidebooks leave out6 things to know before you book.
- Salt-air corrosion on Class A + Class C rigs accelerates roof + slide-out seal degradation — freshwater rinse after every beach trip
- Beach-driving zones (e.g. Padre Island National Seashore, Daytona Beach) require tire-pressure deflation to 18-20 PSI + tow strap on hand
- Hurricane-season disclosure: confirmed county evacuation orders may qualify a booking for cancellation review — consult NHC + state emergency-management before travel
- Tide window awareness: low tide drives some launch ramps + beach-access roads — high tide closes them entirely
- Pacific-coast storm watching (Nov-Feb) is a counter-season RV window — heated rig + rain-rated windshield wipers required
- State park beach-side RV sites book early for Memorial Day through Labor Day — fall back to county + private parks

Asked about beach RV trips in Texas
When should I book a beach RV trip in Texas?
Book the campground first: set the Recreation.gov and state-park alerts for it, then book the rig once the site is confirmed.
What category of rig works best for a beach RV trip in Texas?
The dated entries on this page list RVs first most often; each event's page names the rig it suits and why.
What will the final price include?
The nightly rate you see is the rig's complete price. Before you pay, checkout itemizes every line openly — the transparent service fee, any host-set cleaning fee and any tax — with no surprises. See /pricing for the full fee breakdown.
What insurance applies when renting an RV for a beach trip in Texas?
PickRV is not the insurer and does not sell or offer coverage. Renters arrange their own coverage; hosts may carry their own commercial policy. Confirm your personal auto or RV policy covers rentals — and your beach route and intended use — before pickup.
Can I cancel a beach booking in Texas?
Yes — every booking carries the platform cancellation floor: cancel at least 48 hours before pickup for a full refund of the rental charges. Hosts can offer more generous terms than the floor, never stricter. Where local government issues an evacuation order or trip-disabling notice (e.g. hurricane, wildfire), the booking may qualify for a review on a case-by-case basis.
