Poteet, the self-declared Strawberry Capital of Texas, throws one of the state's biggest agricultural festivals just south of San Antonio: PRCA rodeo, national country-music headliners, a carnival, a parade and strawberries in every form (the 2026 edition was the 79th annual, April 10-12). 2027 is not yet officially dated — plan the second-weekend-of-April pattern, roughly April 9-11, 2027 (the 80th annual). The festival grounds sell on-site camping, which is the low-friction RV play; for a hookup base with more room, San Antonio's south-side RV parks are a straight shot up TX-16, close enough to fold in the Alamo City.
Safety rules and an insider tip
Safety + legal. Spring South Texas can turn to severe weather fast — keep a NOAA weather radio in the rig, and the concert/rodeo nights are big alcohol-adjacent crowds, so plan the drive back sober.
