On the highway, R V means Rental Vehicle in the most ordinary sense — the daily-driver rental that competes with Turo, Enterprise, and the big-three traditional agencies. PickRV's edge is the published fee structure and the cross-category convenience.
How PickRV's car rentals differ from Hertz / Avis / Turo
Traditional agency rentals (Hertz, Avis, Enterprise) carry low base prices that hide behind airport fees, license recovery fees, energy surcharges, loss-damage waivers, and concession recovery — often pushing the final total 40-60% above the quoted base. PickRV publishes the final price on the listing.
Peer-to-peer (Turo) puts you in cars owned by individuals and small fleet operators. PickRV does the same with the difference that every host carries commercial rental insurance as a condition of listing — verified at onboarding, not assumed.
When the car category fits your trip
Day trips and short urban stays. A car rental costs less per night than any RV and parks anywhere.
Cross-country one-way without the camping element. One-way drop-off is a host-level option — when a listing offers it, it shows as a filter on the catalogue page.
Companion vehicle to an RV trip. Some travelers tow a car (a 'toad' in RV lingo) but renting one at the destination is often cheaper and avoids the towing complexity.
EV rentals — what to expect honestly
An EV rental is a different operational experience. Plan your route around DC fast-charging (Tesla Supercharger or CCS combo) using Plugshare or ABRP. Range varies 30-40% in cold weather and at highway speeds above 75 MPH.
Charging fees are not included in PickRV's car rental rates — you pay the charger directly, just like fuel at a gas station. Hosts disclose the starting state of charge at pickup and the expected state of charge at return.
Hosts can include free home charging if you return the car overnight, or set a per-kWh top-up fee — either way, it is on the listing.
Convertibles, SUVs, trucks — when each one wins
Convertibles win on the Pacific Coast Highway, Florida coastal routes, the Texas Hill Country in spring, and any drive where the wind through your hair is the point. They lose on long highway days (loud interior, sun exposure) and family trips with kids in car seats.
SUVs win on national-park trips with gravel access roads, ski-resort weekend drives, and family trips with luggage. They lose on parallel parking in dense cities.
Trucks win when you are hauling — gear, a small towable, building materials, a side-by-side. They lose on fuel economy and city parking.
Honest coverage framing for car rentals
Car rental is the most-mature segment of US peer-to-peer mobility. PickRV is the new entrant. We do not have parity coverage with Turo today. The states where we have car hosts live are shown on the catalogue page in real time.
Where a region does not have a car host yet, the page says so. We do not place ghost listings to pad coverage.

- Sometimes yes, sometimes no. We do not lead with a price-match promise. We lead with fee transparency — the number on the listing is the number at checkout. Compare apples to apples by checking the final total.
- Can I rent a car and an RV in the same booking?
- Today: two separate bookings. The cart-bundling feature is on the roadmap. The trip is still doable today — the convenience layer is what we are building.
- What if I damage the car?
- PickRV is not an insurer and does not sell or offer coverage — you bring your own coverage. Your personal auto policy may extend to the rental — check with your carrier before declining.
- Do you do one-way rentals?
- Some hosts. Use the one-way filter on the catalogue page. When a host offers it the listing includes the drop-off fee (or absence of one).
