Newport Yachting Center holds 75 transient slips inside Newport Harbor at the historic foot of America's Cup Avenue — 20 ft of channel depth at the outer megayacht pier, a 250-ft vessel-length cap on the eastern bulkhead (one of the largest LOA caps on the US East Coast, exceeded only by a handful of Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach megayacht facilities), and year-round fuel and pumpout that anchor the megayacht trade circling between the Mediterranean spring season, the Newport summer regatta calendar, and the winter Caribbean run. The marina hosts three of the East Coast's most-attended yachting events: the Newport Charter Yacht Show every June (the largest crewed charter yacht show in North America by attending crew count), the Newport International Boat Show every September (40,000+ attendees across the four-day Bowen's Wharf footprint), and the start docking for the Newport-Bermuda Race that runs every even-numbered June from Castle Hill to St. David's Light in Bermuda — a 635-nautical-mile bluewater passage organized jointly by the Cruising Club of America and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club since 1906. Channel depth runs 20 ft at the marina basin, maintained by USACE New England District periodic-maintenance dredging, and the broader Narragansett Bay main shipping channel holds 35 ft to accommodate the deep-draft commercial traffic transiting between Providence's port and the open Atlantic. Slip reservations open 12 months out through the marina's own booking system; America's Cup Avenue waterfront slips and the outer megayacht pier book to capacity for Newport Folk Festival weekend (late July) and the Jazz Festival weekend (first weekend of August) within the first 48 hours of the booking window opening. Storm-evacuation policy follows the City of Newport Harbor Management Plan: when NWS Boston posts a Tropical Storm Warning for Newport County, the harbormaster orders the inner slip rows cleared first and the outer megayacht slips held until a Hurricane Warning posts. Fuel runs diesel-and-gasoline year-round; the pumpout is free with any overnight slip rental. RV access is non-existent in downtown Newport — the city bans overnight RV parking citywide under City Code §10.16.040 (passed 2014 specifically to clear summer congestion from Thames Street and Memorial Boulevard), and parking enforcement runs nightly tow patrols May through October. The closest RV-friendly basecamp is Fishermen's Memorial State Park in Narragansett 10 miles south on US-1 (RI DEM, 182 sites, 50-amp electric, 40-ft rig cap, books 4 months ahead for July and August weekends through the RI DEM reservation portal).
