Overview
The Southern corridor is more ambitious than the Northeast — longer legs, warmer weather, and the only WC venue (NRG) where generator use during tailgating is genuinely a comfort feature. Total fuel for a Class C runs $620 to $780; tolls are minimal compared to the Northeast.
Day 1–2: MIA arrival, pickup south Florida
Fly into Miami International, transfer to a depot in Hialeah or Doral. Settle the first two nights at Miami Everglades RV Resort in Kendall — a full-hookup park with airboat-tour access and a 40-minute drive to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
Day 3: Hard Rock Stadium match day
Hard Rock allows oversize vehicles in the southwest perimeter lots with an advance pass. Florida June afternoons are hot and humid; aim to arrive in the morning, run generator + AC during the pre-match window, and stay hydrated. No overnight at the stadium.
Day 4–5: I-75 north to Atlanta via Stone Mountain
The Miami-to-Atlanta haul is 660 miles. Break it into two days: overnight near Ocala or Gainesville on Day 4, push through to Stone Mountain Park Campground on Day 5. Stone Mountain is one of the most beautiful state parks within an hour of a WC host venue.
Day 6: Mercedes-Benz Stadium match day
Park RV at the Home Depot Backyard with the advance reservation. Arrival window opens four hours before kickoff. Atlanta's downtown traffic on match day is severe; the Stone Mountain → MARCEDES-BENZ drive is 18 miles but allow 75 minutes. Drive back to Stone Mountain after the match (no overnight at the venue).
Day 7: I-20 west toward Mobile, overnight reset
Use this day to break up the 760-mile push to Houston. Overnight at Meaher State Park near Mobile, AL, or push slightly further to a private park near Biloxi if you want a casino-side reset. The drive day is long; plan to be off I-20 by 6 PM to avoid afternoon Gulf-coast thunderstorms.
Day 8–9: Houston via I-10
Lakeview RV Resort on Galveston Bay is the WC pick for Houston — full hookups, beach access, and a 50-minute drive to NRG Stadium. Houston summer heat is real; plan match-day departures with extra time in case of traffic delays.
Day 9: NRG Stadium match day
NRG's Yellow Lot is the most RV-friendly of all eleven host venues. Generator use is permitted, overnight stays are allowed for designated WC dates, and tailgating culture rivals the Kansas City scene. Buy the oversize pass the moment the venue opens sales — it's the fastest to sell out.
Day 10: Return leg + hurricane contingency
Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. A named storm tracking into the Gulf of Mexico during your trip is a real possibility and a real risk. Build in 48 hours of schedule slack; pre-identify two inland RV parks (one near San Antonio, one near Dallas) where you can shelter if the Galveston coast is evacuated.
