Dinosaur National Monument's Quarry Exhibit Hall displays the Carnegie Quarry's in-situ excavation wall — 1,500+ Late Jurassic dinosaur bones (Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, Diplodocus, Camarasaurus) still embedded in the original 149-million-year-old Morrison Formation sandstone, the only National Park Service unit where visitors can physically touch original undisturbed fossil bone in situ. Ashley National Forest permits 14-day dispersed camping along the Flaming Gorge-Uintas National Scenic Byway corridor (US-191 northbound through Sheep Creek Geological Area to the Flaming Gorge Dam), with rigs to 35 ft accommodated at developed Forest Service campgrounds (Lodgepole, Greendale, Deep Creek). Dinosaur NM's Green River Campground enforces a 14-day max stay between April and October and reservations open 6 months out via Recreation.gov. The Drive Through the Ages Scenic Byway (US-191 from Vernal to the Wyoming line) crosses 1.1 billion years of exposed geologic time across 30 interpretive pullouts marked by Utah Department of Transportation in cooperation with the Utah Geological Survey. Uinta Basin winter inversion (December-February) routinely produces ground-level ozone exceedances per EPA AirNow monitoring — winter RV travel here means cold-soak fuel-line precautions below 0°F and propane-regulator freeze-up risk.
