RV travel guide
Lane County
County seat Eugene, 4,554 sq mi across Oregon. Everything an RV traveler should read before rolling in — where you can boondock, the roads worth the detour, and the local rule that actually matters.

The county in brief
A traveler's read on Lane County
Lane County is the only county on the Earth that runs continuously from the Pacific Ocean (60 miles of coast at Florence + Heceta Head) to the Cascade Range crest (10,358-ft South Sister) inside a single political boundary — 4,554 sq mi crossing five ecological zones in one west-to-east drive.
McKenzie Pass at 5,325 ft on the original-Cascade-crossing OR-242 is one of only three highest-elevation US-paved passes that historically banned vehicles over 35 ft length on the lava-field switchback section (closes by snow Nov-June). Eugene (population 176,654) is the county seat and the University of Oregon home; Florence at the western terminus holds Oregon Dunes Recreation Area's southern entrance.
