RV travel guide
Klamath County
County seat Klamath Falls, 5,945 sq mi across Oregon. Everything an RV traveler should read before rolling in — where you can boondock, the roads worth the detour, and the local rule that actually matters.

The county in brief
A traveler's read on Klamath County
Crater Lake at 1,949 ft maximum depth is the deepest lake in the United States and the ninth-deepest on Earth — formed when Mount Mazama erupted catastrophically 7,700 years ago, ejecting an estimated 12 cubic miles of magma and collapsing the summit caldera that holds the lake today.
Klamath County wraps the entire NPS unit, the eastern Cascade rain-shadow grasslands, and the Klamath Marsh National Wildlife Refuge. Mazama Campground inside Crater Lake NP is the only park-side RV-friendly loop, accepting rigs up to 35 ft with no hookups and a mid-June to mid-September season. Klamath Falls (population 21,672) is the resupply hub on US-97 with the only big-box grocery between Bend and Weed CA.
