Page City Ordinance (Title 12) caps continuous on-street parking at 72 hours and prohibits human habitation of vehicles on public streets. The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area surrounds Page on three sides, and Wahweap Marina (operated by Aramark concession) is the primary RV campground option with 139 full-hookup sites and an additional 250 dry-camp sites.
Lone Rock Beach (just over the Utah border) offers dispersed beach camping with a $14 nightly fee paid at the Glen Canyon NRA entrance. Lake Powell water levels have dropped substantially over the past 20 years due to Colorado River Basin drought — the published lake elevation at the start of every season determines which launch ramps are operational.
Antelope Point Marina is currently the only Page-side ramp with reliable deep-water access; Wahweap, Bullfrog (90 mi N), and Hite (140 mi N) operate per current water-level advisory. The drive across the Glen Canyon Dam bridge on US-89 is one of the most scenic spans in the Southwest and is a no-stopping zone for oversized vehicles. Plan dump and propane at Page or Wahweap, base at Wahweap or Antelope Point, book Antelope Canyon tours 30+ days ahead, and confirm current Lake Powell launch ramp status before relying on any boating plans.
When to come
Best: April through October: warm enough for water activities, all marinas open, slot canyon light beams strongest May-Sep. Trade-off: peak rates and heat above 100 F July-Aug.
Skip: December through February: ambient highs 50-58 F, water too cold for swimming, some Wahweap loops closed.
Your first hour in Page
Before you leave the lot
- Book Antelope Canyon tour 30+ days ahead via Navajo Nation Parks site or licensed guide operator.
- Confirm Wahweap, Antelope Point, or Page campground reservation; summer weekends fill 90 days ahead.
- Top off propane at U-Haul Page (604 Haul Rd) before any Bryce or Grand Canyon push.
Also worth doing
- Fuel diesel at Maverik Page before any 100+ mi push north to Bryce or south to Grand Canyon.
- Check current Lake Powell elevation before relying on Wahweap or Bullfrog launch ramps.
- Do not stop on Glen Canyon Dam bridge — no stopping zone for any vehicle.
- Buy Glen Canyon NRA 7-day pass ($30) or America the Beautiful pass at any entrance station.
The mistake renters make
Showing up at Antelope Canyon without a pre-booked tour and expecting walk-in access. Antelope Canyon is closed to independent visitors; Navajo guides are the only legal entry. Walk-ups during peak season are turned away, and same-day tour availability is rare May-October.
