Arriving in Las Vegas in an RV runs into two hard constraints most drivers miss until they get cited.

First, Las Vegas Municipal Code §11.52.305 makes it unlawful to park any RV, trailer, or combination 24 feet or longer (or over 8,000 lbs unladen) on a street adjacent to a residence district, public school, or public park unless a sign expressly allows it.
Clark County mirrors this in Title 14.40 and additionally bars any vehicle from being used for human habitation on a public right-of-way without a permit — RV habitation is capped at 7 days, renewable once per calendar year, only with a permit pulled by an abutting resident. The second constraint is the Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive timed-entry window: from October 1 through May 31, every vehicle entering between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
needs a reservation booked on Recreation.gov, and Class A and Class C rigs do not fit in standard campground sites 46-53. Layer on EDC week, NFR in early December, CES in early January, and 110-115F summer pavement that triggers tire failures, and the city stops being a pull-up-anywhere stop. Plan the propane fill, the dump, and the overnight spot before you cross I-15 — not after.

Timing your trip
Mid-October to mid-April — daytime highs 60-80F, low overnight humidity, Red Rock and Valley of Fire are comfortable for full-day exploration. Note: Red Rock Scenic Drive timed-entry reservations are required Oct 1 – May 31, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
Mid-June to mid-September — daytime highs 105-115F, pavement surfaces over 140F drive RV tire blowouts (May-October accounts for 11,000 tire-failure crashes nationally per NHTSA), and AC loads regularly overwhelm 30A pedestals at older parks.
Read before you park
RVs, trailers, or vehicle+trailer combinations 24 ft or longer (or over 8,000 lbs unladen) cannot park, stand, or store on any street adjacent to a residence district, public school, or public park within Las Vegas city limits unless a posted sign permits it.
Citation: Las Vegas Municipal Code §11.52.305
What this means for you: Vehicles 24 ft+ are towed by LVMPD or Code Enforcement; registration hold can be placed with Nevada DMV. No grace period — citation can issue immediately.
In unincorporated Clark County, no vehicle may be used for human habitation on a public street or right-of-way without a permit. RV habitation by permit is capped at 7 days, renewable once for a total of 14 days per calendar year per location, and the permit must be pulled by the adjacent resident.
Citation: Clark County Code Title 14.40 (Stopping, Standing, Parking) + Public Response Office policy
What this means for you: Sleeping in your rig curbside in unincorporated Clark County without a posted permit triggers tow + citation. Enforced by LVMPD, Constable, and PRO at (702) 455-4191.
Residential lots under 0.2 acres may not store an RV or trailer 24 ft+ in length (measured end-to-end including hitches and bumpers). RVs cannot be connected to residential utilities or occupied as a dwelling outside a licensed RV park, regardless of whether parked in front or rear yard.
Citation: Las Vegas Municipal Code §11.52.305 + Title 19 zoning
What this means for you: Driveway-camping at a friend's place is illegal if the lot is under 0.2 acres or you plug into the house — Code Enforcement responds to neighbor complaints fast in residential districts.
Boulder City permits street parking of trailers, boats, and RVs for more than 24 hours but not exceeding 72 hours; Nevada state law (NRS) prohibits parking any vehicle for storage or dead storage beyond 72 hours on a public street.
Citation: Boulder City Residential Parking Regulations + NRS 484B
What this means for you: If you stage your rig in Boulder City to visit Hoover Dam, move it within 72 hours or it is subject to tow as abandoned. No habitation.

Plan around the crowds
RV camping on the Speedway grounds sells out 4-6 months before the event; off-site RV park rates 3-5x normal across N. Las Vegas; I-15 N corridor stop-and-go from Thursday afternoon through Monday morning each weekend.
Event sourceEvery RV park within 20 mi books out by August; expect 2-3x base nightly rates; large rig parking around Thomas & Mack is restricted to permit holders during the 10-day run.
Event source100,000+ visitors; RV resorts near LVCC charge 2x; uber/Lyft/RV access to the Strip is throttled by police-managed road closures; book RV park by November.
Event sourceDealer-density spike means Strip-adjacent RV parking (Circus Circus, Oasis) fills out one week before; rates +30-50%; dealer demonstration rigs occupy oversized lots.

The mistake renters make
Parking your rig overnight on a residential side street in Summerlin, Henderson, or unincorporated Clark County 'just for one night' to save the RV park fee.
LVMC §11.52.305 and Clark County Title 14.40 are enforced by LVMPD, the Constable's Office, and Code Enforcement (PRO line: 702-455-4191). Citation issues immediately for any RV/trailer 24 ft+ on a residential street, and a Nevada DMV registration hold can be placed on the rig — meaning you cannot legally drive it home or sell it until the hold is cleared. Tow + impound runs $250-600 in the LV metro before storage fees.
