First, Las Vegas Municipal Code §11.52.305 makes it unlawful to park any RV, trailer, or combination 24 feet or longer (or over 8,000 lbs unladen) on a street adjacent to a residence district, public school, or public park unless a sign expressly allows it.

Clark County mirrors this in Title 14.40 and additionally bars any vehicle from being used for human habitation on a public right-of-way without a permit — RV habitation is capped at 7 days, renewable once per calendar year, only with a permit pulled by an abutting resident. The second constraint is the Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive timed-entry window: from October 1 through May 31, every vehicle entering between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Layer on EDC week, NFR in early December, CES in early January, and 110-115F summer pavement that triggers tire failures, and the city stops being a pull-up-anywhere stop. Mid-October to mid-April — daytime highs 60-80F, low overnight humidity, Red Rock and Valley of Fire are comfortable for full-day exploration. Note: Red Rock Scenic Drive timed-entry reservations are required Oct 1 – May 31, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Season to skip

Mid-June to mid-September — daytime highs 105-115F, pavement surfaces over 140F drive RV tire blowouts (May-October accounts for 11,000 tire-failure crashes nationally per NHTSA), and AC loads regularly overwhelm 30A pedestals at older parks.

Parking ordinances that bite RVs

RVs, trailers, or vehicle+trailer combinations 24 ft or longer (or over 8,000 lbs unladen) cannot park, stand, or store on any street adjacent to a residence district, public school, or public park within Las Vegas city limits unless a posted sign permits it.

Residential lots under 0.2 acres may not store an RV or trailer 24 ft+ in length (measured end-to-end including hitches and bumpers). RVs cannot be connected to residential utilities or occupied as a dwelling outside a licensed RV park, regardless of whether parked in front or rear yard.

Book Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive timed-entry on Recreation.gov before you arrive if visiting between Oct 1 and May 31 — walk-up entries are turned away 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Top off propane at U-Haul on Las Vegas Blvd N (89030) — open Sundays 9 a.m.-5 p.m., one of the few Sunday-open RV propane refill points in the metro.

Within the first hour

Pre-book the Strip RV park (Circus Circus) or Oasis Las Vegas if your visit overlaps NFR (Dec 3-12), CES (Jan 6-9), or EDC (May 14-23) — all three book out 60-180 days in advance.
Drop the tanks at Boulder Beach Campground (free with $25 NRA pass) or Kings Row Trailer Park ($10) before you stage on Boulder Hwy — avoids paying $15-25 at private parks.

Before bed

If summer arrival (Jun-Sep), check tire pressure cold at sunrise and inspect sidewall date codes; pavement temps above 140F will surface any tire 7+ years old.
Do NOT overnight on a residential street in city limits — LVMC §11.52.305 triggers tow immediately for any rig 24 ft or longer adjacent to a residence district.

Before departure

If visiting Hoover Dam, route directly to Arizona-side Lots 9, 13, or 14 — oversized vehicles are turned away from Nevada-side parking and the parking garage clearance is 7'0".

Parking your rig overnight on a residential side street in Summerlin, Henderson, or unincorporated Clark County 'just for one night' to save the RV park fee.

LVMC §11.52.305 and Clark County Title 14.40 are enforced by LVMPD, the Constable's Office, and Code Enforcement (PRO line: 702-455-4191). Citation issues immediately for any RV/trailer 24 ft+ on a residential street, and a Nevada DMV registration hold can be placed on the rig — meaning you cannot legally drive it home or sell it until the hold is cleared.
