What qualifies
On-water rentals open up the part of a trip you cannot reach by road. PickRV groups boats by how you use them. Pontoons are stable, easy-to-drive platforms for families and lake days. Ski and wakeboard boats are built for towing riders behind them. Jet skis and jet boats handle rivers and quick coastal runs. Houseboats turn a week on a large reservoir, like Lake Powell, into floating lodging. We organize boats by state and by water — coastal launch points and named lakes — with the local marina and the governing agency for each. One important rule: captain-license and boater-education requirements vary by state, and some rentals require a licensed captain on board. Each listing states the rule clearly, plus the included safety equipment. Renters pay one transparent 10% service fee at checkout plus tax, with no drip pricing, and cancellation is free for 48 hours.
Timing
The pleasant-weather window is mid-October to mid-April, when 60-80 F days make the lakeshore comfortable — but boating stretches wider here than most desert activities because the water moderates what the pavement cannot. What midsummer changes is everything around the boat: mid-June to mid-September brings 105-115 F air, 140 F pavement that punishes trailer tires per the city guide's blowout warning, and campground pedestals straining under AC load. Shoulder months give you the best of both. Event weeks matter even lakeside: NFR (early December), CES (early January), and EDC's two May weekends book out every RV park within 20 miles, including the ones boaters use for staging.

The lakeside base: NPS campground on Lakeshore Road at $20 a night, rigs to 35 feet, potable water and a free dump station on site. For a boat-plus-camp trip this is the shortest possible distance between bed and water in the region, and the free dump (with the $25 NRA pass) is the guide's own recommended tank stop.
The quiet full-hookup park in Boulder City, 25 miles out at about $55 a night — the gateway town between Las Vegas and the lake. Know the local rule: Boulder City permits street parking of trailers and boats beyond 24 hours but caps it at 72, and Nevada law treats anything longer as storage subject to tow. Park the trailer on a site, not the street.
The classic side trip from the lake has a trailer-specific rule set: oversized vehicles are turned away from Nevada-side parking, the garage clears just 7 feet, and the guide routes trailered rigs directly to Arizona-side lots 9, 13, and 14. With a boat behind the truck, that one paragraph saves an hour of turning around.
The I-15 fuel stop built for combinations: high-flow diesel at truck pumps, DEF at the pump, and pull-through high-clearance lanes the guide describes as sized for dually trucks with toy haulers — which means a truck-and-boat-trailer rig fuels here without unhooking. The right first stop before the run down to the lake.
What it costs
Boat rentals on PickRV span $175 to $1250 per day from pontoons to wake boats. Checkout adds one 10% service fee plus tax — the full price, upfront — and cancellation is free for 48 hours. Lakeside staging costs are modest: $20 a night at the NPS campground, $55 at the Boulder City park.
Good to know
Lake Mead — the National Recreation Area 28 miles from the city, anchored on the camping side by Boulder Beach Campground on Lakeshore Road. The Vegas metro itself contributes the staging: fuel at the Love's on Dean Martin Drive, full-hookup parks for the night before, and the Boulder City gateway with its own 72-hour trailer rules.
Boater-education requirements vary by state and by craft, and personal watercraft rules differ again. Every PickRV boat listing states whether a licensed captain is required, what education requirement applies, and what safety equipment is aboard — read the listing's rules line before booking rather than relying on a general answer.
Watch the clocks. Las Vegas bars 24-ft+ combinations from residential streets outright; Boulder City allows trailer street parking past 24 hours but not beyond 72, after which Nevada's storage rule makes it tow-eligible. The clean answer is a campground or RV-park site with the trailer on it — Canyon Trail in Boulder City or Boulder Beach at the lake.
