Austin boating runs wider than its camping season: the October-through-April comfort window the guide recommends overlaps the quieter lake months, while the hot Texas summer — punishing for campgrounds at 95-105 F — is exactly when the lake is busiest, because the water is the relief. The I-35 utility stop north of the city: a dump station free with fuel purchase, year-round — the efficient tank-reset for any rig towing a boat through the corridor. On a lake trip it is the exit-day stop that keeps the return-clean requirement from costing a detour.

On the water, that translates to checking NWS Austin/San Antonio before every launch April through October and getting off rising water immediately — Texas Hill Country floods move faster than plans.
