Quartzsite is the winter capital of RV boondocking. From November through March, tens of thousands of RVers descend on this tiny desert town, creating a massive free-camping community. The surrounding BLM land offers virtually unlimited free 14-day camping in every direction.
The annual gem and mineral show in January draws 750,000 visitors. Despite the crowds, it's easy to find solitude just a few miles from town.

The La Posa LTVA ($180/season or $40/14 days) includes a dump station and is the most organized area.
Free 14-day BLM camping is available on all surrounding land outside the LTVA — no permit needed.
January is the busiest month due to the gem show. Arrive early November for the best spots.
Water is available at the Quartzsite water station (bring your own hose) and at Pilot/Love's truck stops.
