Free dispersed camping in the national forest surrounding Sedona, with many sites offering red rock views that rival $300/night hotels. Forest Road 525 and the areas along Schnebly Hill Road have the most popular spots. At 4,500-6,000 feet elevation, temperatures are comfortable when the desert below is scorching.
The famous red rock formations glow at sunset from many boondocking sites.

Schnebly Hill Road is rough (high clearance recommended) but the views are extraordinary.
Sedona itself has very limited RV parking and no public campgrounds. Boondocking is the best option.
Fire restrictions are common May-September. Check with the Forest Service before lighting any fire.
