Boat Rentals in Texas — Hill Country Lakes & Gulf
Texas boating splits between the Hill Country chain of impoundments (Travis, LBJ, Buchanan, Marble Falls) where pontoons and ski boats dominate, and the Gulf Coast (Galveston, Corpus Christi, South Padre) where inshore fishing skiffs and sailing rule. PickRV serves both with format-appropriate hulls.

What the Texas state agency doesn't tell you
PickRV — first-hand context that the official .gov pages skip.
Lake Travis water level varies wildly with Central Texas drought — some launches close at low pool. Check LCRA (lcra.org) for current elevation.
Devil's Cove (Lake Travis party cove) on summer Saturdays can host 1,000+ boats — arrive before 11 am or skip it.
Hippie Hollow is the only legal clothing-optional shore in Texas — boat-only access — and is enforced by Travis County deputies.
Gulf inshore fishing requires saltwater license stamp (separate from freshwater) — $35 for non-resident annual.
Texas summer heat means departing by 8 am for any all-day rental — engine fluids and renters both struggle by 2 pm in August.
Best season
March–October (April–June peak). Summer is brutal but workable with shade.
