A state fair is peak Americana — livestock barns, butter sculptures, a midway lit up after dark — and an RV is the classic way to do one. This is a plain visitor's guide to the biggest fairs: typical run dates, the host city, and a campground to base at. Fairground RV lots are real but they book out months ahead, and dates move every year, so always confirm on the official fair site before you commit.

A state fair is a fixed civic date. It has run in the same weeks for generations in most states, which makes it the most plannable thing in this whole section — and also the reason every bed and pitch for miles is spoken for while it runs.
Many fairgrounds run their own RV camping for the duration, often first-come or booked months ahead, and it is usually the closest you will get without a shuttle. If it is full, the honest move is to base further out and treat the shuttle or transit as part of the day rather than circling a full lot in a motorhome.
