RV propane tanks are refilled (not exchanged like grill cylinders) at licensed propane fill stations. The major chains operating fill stations across the US: Tractor Supply, U-Haul, Ferrellgas, Suburban Propane, AmeriGas, multiple regional. This guide covers the practical reality of getting propane in your RV.

RV propane vs. exchange cylinders
RV motorhomes have built-in propane tanks (typically 20-30 gallons for Class A, less for Class C). Trailers may have 7-11 gallon dual cylinders. Both can be refilled at fill stations.
Cylinder exchange (Blue Rhino, AmeriGas Cylinder Exchange) is for grill-style cylinders only. Not applicable to RV built-in tanks.
What Propane chain marketing doesn't tell you
Each chain's locator is good for their stations. No single locator covers all chains. Use multiple tools.
