Deposit policy
A security deposit on PickRV is a card authorization. It is not a second charge unless a damage claim is captured. PickRV is not an insurer and does not name a carrier.
What the hold is
The amount is set by the host and shown before you pay. The renter confirms the hold starting 24 hours before pickup. Until then there is nothing to confirm.
Your security deposit is released after the 48-hour post-trip review window, unless a damage claim is filed.
States you will see
The booking stores one of five durable states. These are the engine values, not labels we made up for this page.
none
No deposit hold is on this booking.
authorized
A card authorization is in place. This is a hold, not a charge.
captured
Part or all of the hold was captured for an approved damage claim.
released
The authorization was cancelled. The hold is no longer on the card.
failed
The authorization did not succeed. The booking stays in this state until a new hold succeeds.
Release and capture
- After the trip ends, the hold stays in place for the 48-hour review window.
- If no damage claim is open, a scheduled job cancels the authorization. That is a release, not a refund of a charge.
- An open dispute freezes the hold. Capture happens only if a claim is approved. A person reviews the file. We do not quote a decision clock.
- PickRV does not set when your bank shows a released hold.
