From mid-February through late November, Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is closed to private vehicles between Canyon Junction and the Temple of Sinawava — visitors ride the free shuttle system from the visitor center or Springdale shuttle stops.

The Mt Carmel Highway (UT-9 east through the Zion-Mt Carmel Tunnel) has the strictest vehicle dimension cap on any US national park road: 13'1" tall or 11'4" wide vehicles require a tunnel escort permit ($15, valid for two trips) and Zion suspends two-way traffic in the tunnel for the escort. Class A and 5th-wheel rigs almost always require the permit.

Springdale town ordinance (Springdale Town Code Title 6) prohibits oversize vehicle parking on State Route 9 (the main drag) and overnight street parking is banned outright. The closest serious campground is Watchman Campground inside Zion NP — 95 hookup sites that release on a rolling 6-month window at recreation.gov and fill within minutes during March-October peak. South Campground (also inside the park) is first-come, first-served. Outside the park, Zion River Resort (12 mi W in Virgin) and Zion Canyon Campground (in Springdale) are the standard commercial options. Plan tunnel escort timing into your route, base inside the park or in Springdale, and use shuttle for all canyon-floor exploration.
