During Sundance, every commercial campground from Heber City to Coalville quotes 3x-5x normal rates and books out 11 months in advance, and Park City Municipal Code Sec. 4-3-9 explicitly prohibits sleeping in vehicles on city streets — enforced unusually strictly during the festival because of crowding complaints from the residential historic district.

At 7,000 ft elevation, the RV-relevant weather window is shorter than most renters expect: snow on the surrounding peaks is normal through late May, and Mirror Lake Highway (UT-150) — the scenic Uintas escape — is closed at the Bald Mountain summit gate from approximately November through Memorial Day per UDOT.

Jordanelle State Park (10 mi southeast off US-40) is the legal basecamp for RV renters who can't or won't pay private-resort rates: Hailstone and Rock Cliff units run year-round (Hailstone has 110 sites with hookups). Wasatch Mountain State Park (in Midway, 15 mi south) adds 122 more campsites with full hookups and is the better choice if your plan includes the Heber Valley railroad or the Soldier Hollow Games venue. Propane and tank dump cluster in Heber and Kamas — there is essentially zero RV-services infrastructure inside Park City proper. The single thing renters get wrong: assuming ski-resort base lots (Park City Mountain, Deer Valley) tolerate overnight RV — they do not, and tow rates reflect Park City's resort-economy pricing.
