Arriving in Dover, DE with a rented RV

The first planning anchor: Dover Motor Speedway operates its own RV camping village on race weekends with thousands of sites — these are sold through the speedway directly, sell out months in advance, and have published rules about generator hours, awning placement, and ash disposal. Killens Pond State Park (10 mi south, Felton) is the regular-season RV anchor with full hookups on most of ~50 sites, swimming pool, and pinewoods setting.

Trap Pond State Park (50 mi south) is the bald-cypress alternative. Inside the city, Dover Code Chapter 102 prohibits on-street RV overnighting and the Capitol Square parking lots are state-property posted no-overnight under DE Code §29. Propane and diesel cluster on Route 13 (Wawa, Royal Farms truck lane) — Class A renters use the Wawa Plaza near Camden-Wyoming exit. Dover AFB is a closed installation with no public access, but the Air Mobility Command Museum has visitor parking that handles up to Class C. Best season is May, September, and October.
