Memorial Day through Labor Day the population multiplies past 15,000 and the town enforces its parking code aggressively. The planning anchor here is Delaware Seashore State Park (2 mi north at Indian River Inlet) — DNREC operates two camping loops with full hookups on most sites, oceanfront access, and the most reliable RV-friendly base for the Delaware coast.
Holts Landing State Park (8 mi west on Indian River Bay) is a smaller bay-side option with no hookups but excellent boat-ramp access. The town code itself (Bethany Beach Code Chapter 187) restricts RVs from on-street overnight parking inside town limits and enforces a Memorial-Day-to-Labor-Day commercial vehicle prohibition that captures most large rentals. Garrison Lake Rd and Cedar Neck Rd are private — boondocking attempts there get cited under Sussex County Code §115.
Propane and diesel cluster at Royal Farms (Bethany Beach) and Sharp Energy (Selbyville, 6 mi south); diesel for big rigs is best at the Royal Farms truck-fueling lane in Millsboro (15 mi west). Bethany boardwalk is closed to all vehicles, including bicycles before 11 a.m. in summer. Best season is mid-September through mid-October (water still 70F, crowds thin, town ordinance enforcement light) and May (off-season rates, post-shoulder weather).
