The state's signature
The minus-tide almanac
A few days each spring and summer, the Pacific drops below the chart datum at a published minute — and Oregon's basalt shelves open like a museum: anemones, sea stars, urchins. The year's lowest water is a calendar, not a guess.
Seasonal RV-timing verdict
When Oregon is at its best
Oregon's prime RV window is May to October. Coast and mountains are accessible with mild weather; winters bring heavy rain on the coast and snow in the Cascades. Shoulder-season play: Late April and early November are quieter but many mountain campgrounds close and rain increases on the coast.
Know before you go
Wildfires can close roads and campgrounds July through September. Winter mountain passes require chains.
