About Ram 1500
Ram Trucks became a standalone brand within Stellantis in 2010 (previously a Dodge model line). The Ram 1500 dates back to 1981 as the Dodge Ram; in 1994 the second-generation Ram introduced the iconic 'big rig' styling.
Ram 1500 production happens at Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (Sterling Heights MI) — Stellantis's most-productive plant. Ram HD (2500/3500) built at Saltillo Assembly (Saltillo Mexico).
Ram 1500's coil-spring rear suspension (introduced 2009) is unique in the US half-ton segment — every other half-ton uses leaf springs. Coil-spring rear delivers measurably better ride quality, especially unloaded.
