Renting an RV in Annapolis: what to know before pickup
Annapolis has its own arrival logistics. Sandy Point State Park handles both the first night and the free dump station. One street-parking ordinance applies to RVs here — cited in full in the arrival guide.
Street parking reality
The ten-days-a-year cap is the sting: even if you never exceed 48 hours at a stretch, repeat visits burn a shared annual allowance and violations are charged as misdemeanors, not parking tickets. Note this section…

Dump stations & water
- Sandy Point State Park — free, potable water
Camp the first night
- Sandy Point State Park · 10 mi out · No hookups; potable water at host station
Skip the classic mistake

The Annapolis window to avoid
January through February — bay-ice events and many Eastern Shore campgrounds closed.
What that mistake costs
Cobblestone streets and 17th-century block grid trap rigs; sheriff response required
Day one, after you pick the rig up
- Top off propane at U-Haul of Annapolis, 2010 Forest Dr, Annapolis, MD 21401, on arrival day if tanks read below 30%.
- Drive direct to Sandy Point State Park — Annapolis Code Sec. 12.16.020 restricts overnight on-street parking in residential zones.
- Verify scenic-drive open status on Chesapeake Country Scenic Byway (some seasonal closures).
