Cunningham Falls State Park is a 5,000-acre Maryland state park in Frederick County, 60 miles NW of DC. The 78ft cascading waterfall is Maryland's tallest. The park has 171 RV sites across two campgrounds (Houck near the falls; Manor on the lake). Adjacent to Catoctin Mountain Park (NPS) — the two combined offer 50+ miles of trails.

What the official site doesn't tell you
PickRV editor's field notes
The Maryland State Parks site lists Cunningham Falls as 'Maryland's tallest cascading waterfall' but doesn't tell you that 'cascading' is doing heavy lifting — the falls are technically a series of cascades, not a plunge waterfall (much smaller wow-factor than Niagara-style drops). Most disappointed visitors are first-timers expecting a big single drop. Second non-obvious: the park is split — Houck campground (near falls) is in deciduous forest with shade; Manor campground (lake) is open meadow with sun. Manor sites are cheaper but hotter in summer. Third: Catoctin Mountain Park (NPS, free, adjacent) has Camp David's perimeter — closest legal viewing spot at Chimney Rock overlook. Fourth: October foliage peak is Oct 8-22 typically — book 6+ months ahead for that window.

Wolf Den Run State Park + western state forests carry the ORV trails
Maryland's off-road riding is on public land: Wolf Den Run State Park in Garrett County has 12.5 mi of motorized trail (6.5 mi of it open to full-size vehicles) plus the state's only Jeep Badge of Honor Trail, and Potomac-Garrett and Savage River state forests carry designated ORV trails. ORVs may be used on state forests and parks only on those designated trails, and every vehicle needs a DNR OHV sticker and/or Maryland MVA registration. Rausch Creek Off-Road Park, often listed alongside Maryland riding, is across the line in Pennsylvania.

0.08% BAC; only the driver is barred from drinking in the vehicle
Maryland's per se limit is an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more (Transp. §11-174.1, enforced under §21-902). Statewide law bars only the driver from consuming alcohol, or smoking or consuming cannabis, in the passenger area on a highway — there is no statewide ban on simply carrying an open container, and no restriction on passengers. County and city ordinances can add their own open-container rules, so check locally before you travel.
