Gas station RV pump access reality
Why some stations don't accommodate RVs + which chains do.
Standard gas stations are designed for passenger vehicles. RV access is often constrained by canopy height, pump-island clearance, and access lane width. Some chains (Pilot Flying J, Love's, TA, Buc-ee's) have RV-friendly station layouts; others do not.

Can a Class A motorhome fuel at any gas station?
No. Standard gas station canopies are typically 13'6" to 14' clear, and Class A motorhomes with rooftop equipment can be 13'10". Verify before pulling in. Truck stop chains (Pilot Flying J, Love's, TA-Petro) and Buc-ee's locations are reliably RV-friendly. Some small-town stations have lower canopies and tight pump-island spacing that exclude large rigs.

Practical pump selection
Approach the station from the most-open angle. Verify canopy clearance visually before committing.
At truck stops, use the truck side (high-flow pumps with overhead clearance designed for semi-trucks).
Buc-ee's stores in Texas + Southeast US are notably RV-friendly with generous canopy clearance and pump spacing.
What RV travel community + station chains doesn't tell you
Marketing materials rarely specify RV accommodation. The honest answer: chains designed for trucks (Pilot Flying J, Love's, TA) accommodate RVs. Chains designed for passenger vehicles (Shell, Chevron, Mobil) may or may not.
