Some US roads explicitly prohibit RVs by law, by posting, or by physical impossibility. This page collects the routes where RV travel is genuinely not an option. Use it as a planning blacklist.

What roads cannot I drive my RV on in the US?
Several categories. (1) State parkways: NY parkways, Merritt + Wilbur Cross in CT, Garden State Parkway in NJ, GW Parkway + Rock Creek Parkway in DC. (2) Length-limited scenic byways: Mount Blue Sky (30 ft), Independence Pass (35 ft), Going-to-the-Sun Road (21 ft). (3) Tunnels with sub-13'6" clearance: many older Eastern US tunnels. (4) Roads with state RV-warning signs: Tail of the Dragon US-129, Hana Highway Maui.

All major parkways prohibit commercial + RV. Use I-95, I-87, I-287.
Connecticut Merritt + Wilbur Cross
Use I-95.
New Jersey Garden State Parkway (sections)
Verify segment-by-segment. Use NJ Turnpike.
DC George Washington Parkway
Use I-95 / I-495.
Rock Creek Parkway DC
Use I-95 / I-66 / surface streets.
Going-to-the-Sun Road > 21 ft
Use US-2.
Independence Pass > 35 ft
Use I-70.
Mount Blue Sky / Mount Evans > 30 ft
