What the official site doesn't tell you
PickRV editor's field notes
The NY State Parks site lists Fair Haven as 'Lake Ontario beach' but doesn't tell you the swim beach is GUARDED only Memorial Day - Labor Day; off-season swimming is unsupervised + currents are real (Lake Ontario rip currents kill 2-3 swimmers annually statewide). Second non-obvious: the drumlins are this region's geological signature (Wayne County has 10,000+ drumlins) — most visitors don't realize what they're looking at; the park has a free interpretive trail explaining the glacial origin. Third: Sterling Renaissance Faire (Jul-Aug, 6 weekends, 20min E) is the largest Renaissance fair in the Northeast — book RV site for those weekends 6+ months ahead.
