The Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry is the centerpiece of Jurassic National Monument in central Utah, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Set in the high desert about 30 miles south of Price, it holds one of the densest concentrations of Jurassic-aged dinosaur bones known, with thousands of fossils dominated by the predator Allosaurus. For families touring Utah's dinosaur country by RV, it is a remarkable stop between the state's better-known national parks.

According to the BLM, the quarry has yielded over 12,000 fossils from at least 74 animals, and more than 75% of the bones come from predators like Allosaurus fragilis — an unusual ratio that has puzzled and fascinated paleontologists for decades.
The site sits within Jurassic National Monument, where a visitor center presents over 2,000 square feet of exhibits, including an Allosaurus skeleton mount, bone-bed maps, and replica skulls of animals found in the quarry. Trails let visitors explore the surrounding badlands.
The dig site has experienced temporary closures for building construction even while the monument and its trail system stay open. Because this is a remote high-desert location, confirm current hours, road conditions, and closures on the official BLM page before planning your route.
