SMC 11.72.440 (the 72-hour rule) adds that even compliant rigs cannot occupy the same blockface for more than 72 consecutive hours. Seattle Parking Enforcement resumed full citation and tow authority in May 2022 after the COVID pause, and Lincoln Towing holds the contract through December 31, 2026. Plan around three other clocks: Mount Rainier campgrounds (Cougar Rock) open at recreation.gov on a 6-month rolling window at 7 a.m.

PT, Ohanapecosh stays closed for rehab into 2027, and Olympic NP's Kalaloch releases in staggered blocks (6 months, 2 weeks, 4 days out) for the May 15 to September 20, 2026 season. If you are ferrying to Bainbridge, WSDOT classifies anything 22 feet and over as "oversize" with a separate fare bracket and a recommended advance form for rigs that also exceed height or weight limits.

When to come

Best: Late June through mid-September. Dry season averages under 1 inch monthly rainfall, Mt Rainier and Olympic NP loop roads fully open, all dump stations active, and Seattle highs sit in the low-to-mid 70s.

Skip: November through February. Snoqualmie Pass (I-90) and Stevens Pass (US-2) require chains on RVs over 10,000 lb, Mt Rainier's Paradise road closes nightly, Cougar Rock is first-come-only, and Seattle averages 17+ rain days per month with 4:20 p.m. sunset.

Top off propane at U-Haul Rainier Valley (2515 Rainier Ave S) before 5 p.m. — only Sunday-open propane inside Seattle city limits.
Pre-book Mt Rainier Cougar Rock at recreation.gov exactly 6 months out at 7:00 a.m. PT — weekend sites disappear in under 2 minutes.

Before you park overnight

Confirm your overnight is in Ballard, Interbay, SoDo, or Georgetown industrial blocks (SMC 11.72.070 exception) OR a paid park — no exceptions if rig is >80 in wide.

Before you leave town

Dump tanks at Issaquah Village RV Park ($10) before heading to Olympic NP — Hoh's dump is closed indefinitely and Kalaloch charges $10 with limited hours.

If ferrying to Bainbridge, measure total length including bike rack/hitch; anything 22 ft+ is WSDOT oversize bracket with separate fare line.
Move blockface every 72 hours even in legal industrial zones — Lincoln Towing chalks tires under city contract through Dec 31, 2026.
Stock up on diesel and DEF at Love's Napavine (I-5 Exit 71) if heading south — nearest 24/7 RV-grade fuel stop with 9 diesel lanes.
Pull the WSDOT Oversized/Overweight form 3 business days before any island ferry if rig exceeds height or weight, not just length.

The mistake renters make

Overnighting on a residential street in Fremont, Wallingford, Queen Anne, or Magnolia because it 'looked quiet' and no signs are posted. SMC 11.72.070 applies city-wide outside industrial zones — no sign required for enforcement. Standard citation runs $47, but the real cost is the Lincoln Towing impound: hook fee plus storage assessed per 12-hour block after the first 12 hours, routinely $400-$650 to recover an RV. Contract through Dec 31, 2026 sets a max but does not waive accumulated storage.
