Arriving in Sausalito, CA with a rented RV

North of the Golden Gate Bridge: Marin Headlands within Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) restricts RV camping to designated walk-in sites (no vehicle access for RVs above small van size); Mount Tamalpais State Park's Pantoll campground is walk-in tent only with a 7-ft height limit on parking; Samuel P. Taylor State Park (25 mi northwest in Lagunitas) is the canonical Marin RV play with 60 sites and partial hookups in a redwood-grove setting.

Olema RV Resort & Campground (28 mi northwest near Point Reyes National Seashore) is the closest commercial full-hookup option. Across the bridge into San Francisco: practically no RV camping inside the city, but Candlestick RV Park sits at the southern edge. Across the Bay Bridge into the East Bay: a handful of commercial options in Hayward and San Leandro. Highway 101 northbound from the Golden Gate carries a height restriction at the Robin Williams Tunnel (formerly Waldo) that affects very tall rigs — check Caltrans before approach. Propane and diesel cluster at the Mill Valley shopping corridor and the East Bay; in Sausalito itself, options are gasoline-only and pricier than average. Best season is May-October — fog is the constant from June through August, so book sites with that in mind.
