Indiana Dunes State Park (Porter County, adjacent to the National Park) adds 140 RV sites with electric on most, full hookups on none. Together they handle Indiana's Lake Michigan dune-and-beach RV demand. Chesterton and Beverly Shores are the supply hubs; both have small-town RV ordinances that restrict overnight street parking but allow Walmart-style tolerance (verify). The two parks share the Lake Michigan shore for roughly 15 miles between Gary and Michigan City.

US-12 runs the spine through both parks; US-20 parallels south as the alternate. Routes from I-94 to either park use clearly-signed exits but local roads near the Beverly Shores enclave have low-clearance railroad bridge underpasses — verify before approach with anything taller than 11'6". Propane and diesel cluster at the Pilot/Flying J Travel Center near I-94 in Burns Harbor and the Speedway in Chesterton; full Class A pull-through is straightforward at Pilot/Flying J.

Beach access during summer (Memorial Day - Labor Day) reaches daily-capacity closure at popular access points like West Beach — NPS will turn cars away when lots fill, typically by 11 a.m. weekends. Best season is May-June and September-October for moderate temps and easier access; July-August is peak crowds. Watch for lakefront wind events year-round and lake-effect snow Nov-Mar.
