Olympic National Forest

Be prepared for rain — even in summer. The west side of the Games gets 12+ feet of rain per year.

Forest roads can be rough. Check conditions at the ranger station in Forks or Quinault.

Salmon and steelhead fishing is world-class in many of these rivers (Washington license required).

Roosevelt elk are commonly seen grazing in meadows along the Hoh and Quinault valleys.

The Quinault Rain Forest loop is a short, flat trail through massive old-growth trees — perfect for a rainy day.
