Stretching across southern Montana from Yellowstone's northern boundary to the Beartooth Mountains, the Custer Gallatin National Forest offers premier dispersed camping in true grizzly bear country. The Beartooth Highway (US-212) is frequently called the most scenic drive in America, with free camping available at pulloffs along its length. Mill Creek Road south of Livingston and the Boulder River valley offer established dispersed sites with mountain stream access.
This is Montana at its finest — big sky, big mountains, and big solitude.

This is GRIZZLY BEAR country. Bear spray is mandatory, not optional. Carry it on your person at all times outside the RV.
Mill Creek Road (south of Livingston) has excellent dispersed sites along a beautiful mountain stream.
The Beartooth Highway is typically open late May through mid-October. Snow can close it any month.
Perfect base for visiting Yellowstone's north entrance (Gardiner is 50 miles from Livingston).
