Right on the Straits of Mackinac, Headlands International Dark Sky Park gives the Midwest an accessible, water's-edge spot to watch for the lights across a dark northern horizon. It takes a strong geomagnetic night this far south, but when it happens the aurora rises over Lake Michigan. Wilderness State Park nearby has the RV sites.
