About these eventsEach one in its own record's words.
Snowbird Season 2026-2027 (Florida + Arizona). Snowbird RV migration runs November through March. Florida (St Pete-Clearwater, Fort Myers, Naples, Keys) + Arizona (Phoenix-Mesa, Tucson, Yuma) see the biggest influx. Many parks require 30+ day minimum stays during peak.
Manatee viewing season. Park rig at Crystal River KOA + 15min to Three Sisters. Best manatee viewing in the world. Boat rental pairs well for in-water encounters.
Florida Strawberry Festival 2027. The Florida Strawberry Festival is one of the Southeast's biggest agricultural fairs — eleven days of national headliner concerts, a midway, livestock shows and the berry shortcake that built the town, officially set for March 4-14, 2027 in Plant City between Tampa and Lakeland. It lands in the sweet spot of Florida's dry winter season when the snowbird RV population is already parked statewide, so demand for rigs across the Tampa Bay market spikes. Base at Hillsborough River State Park (electric sites for rigs to 50 ft, about 20 minutes northwest) and drive in — the festival's own lots handle day parking better than an oversized rig ever will.
Grant Seafood Festival 2027. The Grant Seafood Festival calls itself the longest continuously running seafood festival on Florida's east coast, put on entirely by volunteers in the tiny Space Coast fishing village of Grant-Valkaria since 1966 (the 2026 edition was the 59th annual, March 7-8). 2027 is not yet officially dated — plan the late-February-to-first-March-weekend pattern, roughly March 6-7, 2027. Admission is free and the food money funds local scholarships. It's an easy add to a Space Coast RV trip: Sebastian Inlet State Park is about 15 minutes south, and Long Point Park (a Brevard County campground at Sebastian Inlet) sits even closer on the lagoon.
Spring Break — Key West / Florida Keys 2027. Florida Keys spring break season. Bahia Honda State Park RV sites + Sunshine Key RV Resort are the standout options. In 2027 the Florida college break weeks (UF Mar 13-20, UCF Mar 15-21) roll straight into Miami-Dade schools' spring recess (Mar 22-26), so Keys demand peaks mid-to-late March.
Calle Ocho Festival 2027 — Miami. Calle Ocho Festival caps the Carnaval Miami week along SW 8th Street in Little Havana, running 15 blocks from SW 12th to 27th Avenue. Larry & Penny Thompson Park + Miami Everglades RV Resort offer RV bases ~25 min from Little Havana.
Miami Music Week + Ultra. Winter Music Conference (March 24-26) + Ultra Music Festival weekend (March 26-28) + adjacent club events.
Ultra Music Festival Miami 2027. Ultra Music Festival returns to Bayfront Park, downtown Miami, March 26-28, 2027. No on-site RV camping. Larry & Penny Thompson Memorial Park (Miami-Dade) offers full-hookup sites ~25 min via SR-836; Miami Everglades RV Resort is further but quieter.
Florida Keys boating + diving season 2027. Florida Keys peak boating season runs spring through late summer. Coral Reef State Park (Key Largo) gives RV + reef access. Mini-lobster season opens late July.
SUN 'n FUN Aerospace Expo 2027. SUN 'n FUN transforms Lakeland Linder International Airport into one of the world's largest aviation gatherings every April: thousands of aircraft fly in, daily afternoon airshows headline (with night airshows on select evenings), and warbird, homebuilt, and vintage aircraft parking stretches across the field. The 2027 expo is officially set for April 6-11 — the 53rd annual edition. Camping is core to the event's culture — the expo sells drive-in camping on the grounds for RVs and tents, meaning you wake up steps from the flight line. Those on-field RV spots are the event's best asset and sell ahead of show week. Early April is high season in Central Florida, so rental inventory across the Tampa-Orlando corridor is competitive — 8-10 weeks of lead keeps choices open. Between airshow sessions you're an hour from either coast, which makes a beach-plus-airshow week the natural itinerary.
Cedar Key Seafood Festival 2026. Cedar Key is a stilt-house fishing island at the end of a long causeway on Florida's Nature Coast, and its Seafood Festival (October 17-18, 2026, free admission) is the Lions Club's decades-old celebration of the town's clam-farming and oystering trade. Farm-raised clams, oysters and stone crab meet an arts-and-crafts show and live music in a town that still feels like Florida before the interstates. For RV travelers it's a Nature Coast anchor: Manatee Springs State Park near Chiefland has a spring-side campground about 30 minutes inland, putting you within reach of the festival, the springs and the salt marsh in one trip.
Suwannee Hulaween 2026. Suwannee Hulaween takes over the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak every Halloween weekend — October 22-25, 2026 — with The String Cheese Incident anchoring five stages, the Spirit Lake art installations, and a costumed crowd of tens of thousands living on-site for four days. This is a festival where the RV is the point: the venue is a 700-acre park and campground draped in Spanish-moss oaks along the Suwannee River, and rig, tent and car camping ARE the lodging. Book the on-site RV camping add-on with your ticket; late October in north Florida is dry, cool-nighted and about as good as Southern camping weather gets.
Key West Fantasy Fest. Key West fills past capacity. RVs parked at Sugarloaf KOA stay within driving distance of the parade.
Florida Seafood Festival 2026. Florida's oldest maritime festival closes out the season on the Forgotten Coast under the oaks of Apalachicola's Battery Park, on the first full weekend of November (Nov 6-7, 2026). Oyster-shucking and oyster-eating contests, the Blessing of the Fleet, the Redfish Run and blue crab races anchor a genuinely working seafood town. It pairs perfectly with an RV week on this uncrowded stretch of the Panhandle: Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park has a beachfront campground about 25 minutes across the bridge, and November here is dry, mild, mosquito-thinned camping weather.
Art Basel Miami Beach 2026. Art Basel Miami Beach + Design Miami at Miami Beach Convention Center. Larry & Penny Thompson Park or Miami Everglades RV Resort give RV options ~30 min from beach.
Mecum Kissimmee Collector Car Auction. Thousands of lots cross the block over two weeks at Osceola Heritage Park. Bidder registration runs ahead of the docket — sort credentials and your central-Florida base before the gates open.
Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival 2027. The Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival is exactly what it sounds like: a small inland town near Vero Beach that serves an astonishing quantity of frog legs and gator tail over four January days, officially the 36th annual on January 14-17, 2027. It's a carnival, a parade and a genuine old-Florida community fundraiser rolled together, and it lands in the heart of snowbird season when the RV crowd is already wintering on the Treasure Coast. Sebastian Inlet State Park's campground on the barrier island is about 25 minutes east — surf, snook fishing and the inlet on one side, deep-cracker-country Florida at the festival on the other.
Gasparilla Pirate Festival 2027. Gasparilla is Tampa's signature event: a full-size pirate ship 'invades' the bay and a mile-long parade rolls down Bayshore Boulevard, with the main Seminole Hard Rock Gasparilla Pirate Fest parade set for January 30, 2027 (the children's parade runs the weekend before, January 23). It's one of the largest single-day events in Florida and reshapes the city — street closures, busy regional campgrounds and a January-peak snowbird backdrop. Base the rig at Hillsborough River State Park (~13 miles out, electric sites for rigs to 50 ft) and use rideshare or transit into the closures; the park is the same one Tampa RV travelers use year-round.
Mount Dora Arts Festival 2027. The Mount Dora Arts Festival turns the hilly, antique-shop streets of this lakeside town north of Orlando into a nationally ranked fine-arts show every February (the 52nd annual, officially February 6-7, 2027). Juried painters, sculptors and photographers line the historic downtown of a town that already trades on old-Florida charm. For RV travelers it slots into a central-Florida winter loop: Trimble Park, an Orange County campground on Lake Beauclair, is minutes away, and Wekiwa Springs State Park is about 30 minutes south — cool, dry February weather and a walkable, genuinely pretty host town.
Everglades Seafood Festival 2027. In the fishing hamlet of Everglades City, the gateway to the Ten Thousand Islands, the Everglades Seafood Festival is the whole town's weekend: stone crab and gulf shrimp straight off the boats, live country music, a carnival and crafts along Copeland Avenue, officially set for February 19-21, 2027. It is a natural RV destination in peak Everglades dry season — Collier-Seminole State Park has an RV campground about 15 minutes north on US-41, and the same trip pairs with airboat country, the Big Cypress boardwalks and the Wilderness Waterway. This is genuine backcountry Florida, not a theme-park version of it.
Swamp Cabbage Festival 2027. In the ranching-and-citrus town of LaBelle on the Caloosahatchee, the Swamp Cabbage Festival celebrates hearts of palm cut from the sabal palm — Florida's state tree, locally called swamp cabbage — with a parade, rodeo-country crafts, a car show and live music in Barron Park (the 2026 edition was the 60th annual, February 21-22). 2027 is not yet officially confirmed; the last-full-weekend-of-February pattern points to roughly February 27-28, 2027. It's a real inland-Florida community festival, and the Caloosahatchee setting makes it an easy RV stop: the Army Corps Ortona South Recreation Area campground sits about 15 minutes west on the river, midway on the Okeechobee Waterway.
Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival 2027. Fernandina Beach bills itself as the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry, and its Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival fills the historic downtown of Amelia Island every first weekend of May with 300+ artists, a pirate-themed parade, fireworks and, of course, local shrimp (the 2026 edition was the 61st annual, May 1-3). 2027 is not yet officially dated — plan the first-weekend-of-May pattern, roughly April 30-May 2, 2027. The RV tie-in is one of Florida's best: Fort Clinch State Park sits on the north tip of Amelia Island with an oceanfront-and-riverside campground minutes from the festival, so you camp on the same island you party on.
Florida Folk Festival 2027. Running since 1953, the Florida Folk Festival is the oldest state folk festival in the country, held every Memorial Day weekend inside Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park on the Suwannee River in White Springs. 2027 is not yet officially dated (the 2026 edition was the 74th annual, May 22-24) — plan on the Memorial Day-weekend pattern, roughly May 28-30, 2027, and confirm on the park site before locking travel. The RV angle is unbeatable: the state park has its own campground, so you camp inside the festival grounds and walk to the stages — Florida heritage music, storytelling and craft with the river right there.
What this page covers
If you are planning a spring-break RV trip in this state, this page covers the spring-break destinations with RV-park overlap (Padre Island TX, Panama City + Daytona + Miami FL, Lake Havasu AZ, Palm Springs + San Diego CA), the group-trip logistics (alcohol on the road, designated drivers, campground noise rules), the realistic March-April booking lead times, and the under-21 alcohol-law disclosure.
Florida's spring-break destinations cluster around the second and third weeks of March (university calendar dependent). Miami is the primary pickup hub. Group-trip logistics + alcohol-on-road rules + campground noise enforcement are covered. Read each campground's own group and quiet-hour rules before you book the rig.
The window. March 1 through April 15 (varies by university calendar). Peak weeks are typically the second + third weeks of March.
What guidebooks leave out6 things to know before you book.
- Group spring-break trips: drivers must be 21+ and zero-alcohol behind the wheel — designated drivers MUST be assigned per rig
- Campground noise rules: most state + private parks enforce 10pm-7am quiet hours — fines + ejection for violations
- Campgrounds near peak destinations fill early for the second + third March weeks — book the site before the rig
- Group sites at state parks (3+ adjacent pull-throughs) book through each state's own reservation portal, often months ahead
- Beach-front RV parks on the FL + TX Gulf fill early for spring break — book them the fall before

Asked about spring-break RV trips in Florida
When should I book a spring-break RV trip in Florida?
Book the campground first: set the Recreation.gov and state-park alerts for it, then book the rig once the site is confirmed.
What category of rig works best for a spring-break RV trip in Florida?
The dated entries on this page list RVs and classics first most often; each event's page names the rig it suits and why.
What will the final price include?
The nightly rate you see is the rig's complete price. Before you pay, checkout itemizes every line openly — the transparent service fee, any host-set cleaning fee and any tax — with no surprises. See /pricing for the full fee breakdown.
What insurance applies when renting an RV for a spring-break trip in Florida?
PickRV is not the insurer and does not sell or offer coverage. Renters arrange their own coverage; hosts may carry their own commercial policy. Confirm your personal auto or RV policy covers rentals — and your spring-break route and intended use — before pickup.
Can I cancel a spring-break booking in Florida?
Yes — every booking carries the platform cancellation floor: cancel at least 48 hours before pickup for a full refund of the rental charges. Hosts can offer more generous terms than the floor, never stricter. Where local government issues an evacuation order or trip-disabling notice (e.g. hurricane, wildfire), the booking may qualify for a review on a case-by-case basis.
