Lookout Mountain's western edge drops 1,000 feet into a sandstone canyon carved by Daniel and Bear Creeks — the most spectacular single landscape feature in Georgia's state-park system and one of the few full-hookup options in the southern Appalachian foothills. The West Rim and East Rim Campgrounds hold 73 sites combined with 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups at a 40-ft cap, year-round operation, dump station near each loop. Reservations open 13 months ahead through ReserveAmerica. The Waterfall Trail's 600-step descent to Cherokee Falls and Hemlock Falls is the headline hike but it's a strenuous return climb that surprises unprepared visitors. The West Rim Loop Trail's overlooks at sunrise and sunset are the most photographed views in north Georgia. Walk-in yurts and pioneer cabins operate as a separate inventory.
