What you need to know
Official 2028 dates have not been announced yet — only editions through 2026 are confirmed (July 23-26, 2026, Preview Night July 22). Based on the convention's long-running Thursday-Sunday run in the last full week of July, plan provisionally for roughly July 20-23, 2028 (Preview Night ~Jul 19) and confirm on comic-con.org once the calendar posts. Badge sales run through Member ID + Open Registration lotteries the prior fall. RVs cannot park in the Gaslamp / Marina district; the canonical base is Mission Bay RV Resort (~8 mi north, full hookups, MTS Route 8 to downtown), Chula Vista RV Resort (~10 mi south on San Diego Bay, full hookups, Blue Line Trolley access), or Sweetwater Summit Regional Park (~14 mi southeast, electric only). MTS Blue Line + Orange Line stops sit adjacent to the Convention Center and run extended hours during the convention.

Safety + legal
Gaslamp district pedestrian density is intense — the convention draws roughly 130,000+ attendees per its publicly reported badge capacity, and drive-near rules forbid RVs on 5th Avenue and Harbor Drive from Thursday onward. Late-July marine layer can drop visibility on I-5 morning approaches; check Caltrans QuickMap before departure.
Insider tip
Chula Vista RV Resort sits at the Bayfront Trolley stop — Blue Line runs to the Convention Center in 18 minutes for $2.50 each way, beating any rideshare surge during the convention.
