Arriving in Leavenworth, WA with a rented RV

The town sits on US-2 (Stevens Pass corridor) and on the Wenatchee River; Icicle Creek Road branches south into the Wenatchee National Forest where five USFS campgrounds (Eightmile, Bridge Creek, Johnny Creek, Ida Creek, Chatter Creek) stack along the creek for the first 17 miles. These USFS sites are first-come-first-served outside the Recreation.gov-reservable subset, no hookups, and rigs over 22 ft will find access tight beyond Eightmile.

Lake Wenatchee State Park (20 mi northwest via WA-207) is the canonical full-hookup play but books 9 months in advance for summer weekends. Leavenworth city code restricts overnight on-street RV parking in residential zones; commercial-lot overnighting is uncommon. WSDOT publishes US-2 winter chain restrictions actively from November through April — Stevens Pass closures during heavy snow events shut down the corridor for hours at a time. Propane and diesel cluster in Cashmere and Wenatchee (12-25 mi east); inside Leavenworth itself, propane availability is intermittent. Best season is mid-June through September for hiking; shoulder months for crowds but reservations. Plan three water-management cycles minimum: there are zero RV-park-density dumps east of Stevens Pass until you reach Cashmere or Wenatchee proper.
