First: Town of Jackson Municipal Code 10.04.220 bans parking on any public street or lot from 3:00am-7:00am between November 1 and April 15 for snow operations — and a separate town ordinance prohibits camping (sleeping in a vehicle) on streets, parking lots, or parking structures inside town limits year-round. The Town Square strip on Cache and Broadway is 3-hour limited daily.
Second: WYDOT closes WY-22 over Teton Pass to all trailer traffic eastbound from October 15 each year, and bans trailers entirely between November 15 and April 1, with a 60,000-lb weight cap year-round on the 10% grades. If you arrive with a towed setup in mid-October expecting the Idaho shortcut, you will be re-routing 90 miles north through Ashton or south through Alpine.
Add the Grand Teton campground reservation window — Gros Ventre, Colter Bay RV Park, and Headwaters Flagg Ranch open six months out on Recreation.gov, and the Memorial Day-through-Labor Day window sells through in under 48 hours for summer dates. Plan the rig parking, the propane top-off, and the campground booking before you cross Hoback Junction — the closer you get to Town Square, the fewer options remain.

Timing your trip
Mid-June through mid-September — all Grand Teton and Bridger-Teton campgrounds open, Teton Pass fully accessible for trailers, dump stations and propane operating, daytime highs 75-82F with no afternoon ice on 10% grades.
Mid-November through mid-April — Yellowstone south/east roads closed Nov 1, Teton Pass trailers banned Nov 15-Apr 1, town 3am-7am winter parking enforcement Nov 1-Apr 15, every NPS campground closed, daytime highs 15-30F freeze tanks unless skirted and heated.
Read before you park
No overnight parking on public streets or lots from 3:00am-7:00am, November 1 through April 15 (snow removal).
Citation: Town of Jackson Municipal Code 10.04.220
What this means for you: Applies to every RV class. Vehicles left on the street in this window are ticketed and may be towed. Use the Town Public Parking Garage (free daytime, $5/hr 12am-4am, $20 daily max) if no campground reservation.
Camping in vehicles, RVs, or campers prohibited on town streets, parking lots, and parking structures year-round.
Citation: Town of Jackson camping ordinance (per Town FAQ #141)
What this means for you: No boondocking, no overnight stays in any town lot — including the Home Ranch Welcome Center lot. Park rangers and Jackson PD actively enforce in summer. Nearest legal free dispersed camping is Bridger-Teton NF dispersed sites east on Curtis Canyon Road.
Downtown core streets (Mercill, Millward, Simpson, Willow) limited to 3-hour parking year-round; most surface lots no parking 2:00am-7:00am.
Citation: Town of Jackson Public Parking program (Title 10.05)
What this means for you: A 30+ft Class A will not legally fit in a downtown stall; oversize vehicles should use the Stilson Park-and-Ride lot at WY-22/22 west of town and shuttle in.
WY-22 Teton Pass eastbound closed to trailer traffic starting October 15 annually; all trailers banned November 15 through April 1; 60,000-lb weight limit year-round.
Citation: WYDOT WY-22 / Teton Pass commercial-carrier restriction
What this means for you: Towing a car, boat, or fifth-wheel after Oct 15 means routing via US-26 through Alpine (south, +45 miles) or US-20/ID-32 via Ashton (north, +90 miles). Motorhomes without tows are allowed but the 10% grade requires low gear and engine brake.

Event sourceRodeo schedule pauses, but fairgrounds RV access is suspended for vendors only. Grand Teton NP campgrounds at 100% — book by January 21, 2026 (6-month window).

The mistake renters make
Pulling into Town Square or any town surface lot for a quick lunch in a 30+ft rig and leaving it past 2:00am or in the 3:00am-7:00am winter window — the town camping ordinance and MC 10.04.220 are enforced by Jackson PD with tow authority.
Towing in Jackson averages $250-450 (Teton County's nearest impound is 6 miles south on US-89), plus ticket per Title 10.05. Snow-removal violations specifically can compound daily until the vehicle moves.
