Des Moines Municipal Code Sec. 114-632(b) (Parking prohibited — Parking of trucks, tractors, trailers or semitrailers on specified streets)
No person may park a travel trailer at any time on any city street in Des Moines. The only exception is vehicles parked on a street abutting an active construction site between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. A violation carries a $100.00 fine.
No person shall park any motor truck having a freight capacity greater than one ton or any trailer, semitrailer, travel trailer, road tractor or truck tractor unit at any time on any city street.

Separately, no trailer, semitrailer or tractor unit with a freight capacity greater than one ton may be parked at any time on any street abutting property zoned N-1 to N-5 or NX1 to NX3.
No person shall park a motor truck, or any trailer, semitrailer, tractor, road tractor or truck tractor unit having a freight capacity greater than one ton at any time upon any portion of a street abutting property zoned N-1 to N-5 or NX1 to NX3 occupancy, as defined in chapter 134 of this Code unless otherwise permitted in this chapter.
