Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park
Charleston County Parks runs the Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park, a three-mile driving route through more than 750 illuminated displays and millions of lights. It is one of the more RV-friendly holiday drives in the country because the county park's own full-hookup campground sits inside the same park — you can camp on-site and drive the route the same evening. Beyond the drive there is a walk-around Winter Wonderland with treats, music and a carousel. This is an official county-parks event a few minutes from historic downtown Charleston.

Plan it honestly
Admission is charged per vehicle, and dates are set each year (the 2025 run was Nov 13–Dec 31), so confirm the current season and hours on the Charleston County Parks page before you travel. The official page does not publish a vehicle-size limit for the drive — a long motorhome can be awkward on a single-lane light loop, so consider unhooking a tow vehicle or asking the park. The on-site campground books up far in advance for the holidays, so reserve early.
Confirm dates, tickets, and vehicle limits on the official page: Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission — Holiday Festival of Lights .
