Shofuso & Philadelphia Cherry Blossom Festival
Philadelphia's cherry blossoms grow from a 1926 gift of 1,600 flowering trees from Japan marking the 150th anniversary of American independence, and 2026 is the 100th anniversary of that gift. The heart of it is Shofuso, the Japanese house and garden in West Fairmount Park, where the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia presents the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival each spring with Japanese arts and culture. For an RV trip this is a day-use city park stop, so you base at a campground across the river or outside town and drive in to the bloom and the festival.

Plan it honestly
Peak bloom is weather-driven and never guaranteed on a set date; the festival is scheduled in late March or early April (March 28-29 in 2026, April 3-4 in 2027), but the trees follow the weather, so the blossoms may peak before or after festival weekend. Fairmount Park and Shofuso are day-use with no camping; plan an RV base nearby and confirm festival dates and bloom status before your trip.
